VIRTA higher education achievement register and authoritative data flows
VIRTA Higher education achievement register of the National data warehouse for higher education is the service which the owner, the Ministry of Education and Culture, has been acquired from CSC. In the service, institutions of higher education keep partial copies of their student registers. Information in the student registers is securely and efficiently transferred via a technical user connection to the use of different authorities and operational needs, such as application to higher education. VIRTA higher education achievement register is a tool to be utilized in the authoritative data harvesting in the way that the collected data will be both commensurable and of a good quality.
VIRTA Higher education achievement register includes information of 38 Finnish higher education institutions, which corresponds to 1.3 M degree students. For example, records of graduations, study attainments, grades, rights to study in higher education as well as information on study place acceptation and enrollment to study a degree are incorporated in the national data warehouse for higher education.
CSC - IT Center for Science develops and maintains VIRTA Higher education achievement register on behalf of the technical administrator, the Ministry of Education and Culture.
